I’ve just finished proofing my new website content, which is very exciting! The new website will be live very soon, but until then, I thought I’d give you a sneak preview of the way I’ll be offering my retirement planning and coaching services from July onwards.
The new Discovery session
Planning for retirement deserves your time and dedication, and normally, the support and guidance from the right person.
Our first point of contact is essential to get the answer to one crucial question right from the start: could we work together?
So, I offer everyone a free, no-obligation 30-minute Discovery session. The aim is simple. Let’s find out how we can work together in a brief chat about where you are, what you have in place already, and where you want to be.
Why a Discovery session?
A Discovery session is a bit like speedy dating (or so I’m told!). Rather than commit to a hours-long date with a person that can end up seeming like an interrogation, it’s more “Hi, let’s chat and see what happens”. (And with no bar or food bill.)
In your free Discovery session, we’ll talk through your goals, aspirations and basic current provisions for retirement. I’ll also give a quick introduction to how I might help based on your particular circumstances.
Then it’s up to you.
- If you want to proceed, that’s great. I’ll book you in for the next stage, your Retirement Planning kick-starter.
- If you want to swipe left or just have a think about it, that’s fine too! I will give you the time and space to consider your next move, with perhaps the occasional reminder email (and I mean occasional).
Did I mention your initial Discovery session is free? This is carried out via a video conference call or telephone. Again, the choice is yours.
When do you want to retire?
When you schedule that first Discovery meeting will depend on where you are on your retirement journey so far. In fact, any time is a good time!
5-10 years away
A very good time to start, so you have a holistic overview of your total wealth and financial plan, with time to adjust assets and other financials as required.
2-5 years away
This is the time to start planning how your retirement transition will work. Your employer will probably appreciate a heads-up on whether you want to:
- Stay on and reduce your working hours gradually, or
- Work flat-out right up to ‘Retirement Day’.
1-2 years before your planned retirement age
Amid the mounting anticipation, now is the time to create a detailed roadmap of how your retirement will look, and most importantly, how you will spend your days. Failing to plan your time is a crucial error many retirees make, as many mistake their DIY job list for a life schedule.
Less than six months to go
That Big Day is approaching, but are you ready? This close to retirement, your employer or school need to know if you are going or staying (if you haven’t told them already). Having already planned your retirement will give you the reassurance that yes, you can retire, and yes, you can lead the lifestyle you’d like.
